PRIZE-GIVING

Prize-giving and the major spot prize draw will be held at approximately 1400.

First, second and third place-getters for each of the marathon run, marathon walk, half marathon run and half marathon walk, mens and womens races, will be acknowledged.

The major spot prize draw is available to marathon, half marathon and 10km entrants. this year. Numbers will be randomly drawn from a finishers list provided by the Timing Team. You must then be present at prizegiving to claim a prize. In the event of a no-show, the prize will be redrawn.

race walkers

Whilst Runners may walk, Walkers may not run.

The walkers category is for participants who intend to walk the entire course and compete against other ‘walkers’.

For this reason, it is important that if you intend to run any part of the course, you MUST enter as a runner, not a walker.

As event organisers we reserve the right to change a participant’s category from ‘walk’ to ‘run’ in order to preserve the order of results of actual race walkers on the course.

THE COURSES

This year’s event features brand new courses for the marathon, half marathon and 10km events. Following is a brief description of the courses as they stand.

  • The marathon will head down to the He Ara Kotahi pathway via Dairy Farm Road, then out to Linton and back to the He Ara Kotahi pedestrian bridge. From here, marathon participants will head downstream along the Riverside walkway to Paneiri Park and then make their way back upstream, underneath both He Ara Kotahi bridge, Fitzherbert Bridge, then all the way to Te Matai Road to the turn around point. From here they will return via the Riverside walkway, cross the Fitzherbert Bridge and return to Massey University to finish.

  • The half marathon participants will follow the same route as the marathon to Linton and back via He Ara Kotahi pathway. On return to the He Ara Kotahi bridge, they will head downstream for a short out-and-back section before turning around to head back upstream, beneath the He Ara Kotahi bridge, then up to cross the Fitzherbert bridge and return to Massey University to finish.

  • The 10km event will head to the He Ara Kotahi pathway via Dairy Farm Road, and will complete a short out-and-back section on this path towards Linton before turning around and back to the bridge. They will then cross the He Ara Kotahi pedestrian bridge and turn immediately left to follow the path down to join the Riverside walkway where they will turn left again and head upstream to the Fitzherbert bridge which they will cross and then return to Massey University to finish.

  • The 5km fun run/walk will also head down towards He Ara Kotahi along Dairy Farm Road, turn at the turn around point, then head back to Massey University to finish.

Course maps will be released once the details have been finalised.

PARKING

Plenty of parking is available in the Massey carpark on the day. Orchard Road is closed from Saturday afternoon for the event so you will need to access the parking via Albany Drive (off Old West Road).

EVENT HQ

Event HQ will offer the full post-race experience; where you can relax, soak up the atmosphere, appreciate a well-earned massage, refuel, and enjoy celebrating your achievement with friends and family.

There will be a coffee cart in attendance and there will be a sausage sizzle and other hot savoury food to purchase.

There will be parking at Massey on the day but please note Orchard Road is closed so you will need to access the parking from Old West Road.

DRINK/AID STATIONS

Drink/aid stations will be located approximately 4-5km apart. Locations will be advised once course details have been finalised.

TIMING

The Timing Team will be taking care of all of our timing needs on the day.  Race numbers are worn on the front of your shirt and must be clearly visible at all times. You must remember not to cover your race number as you pass over the start/finish line as this can affect the integrity of the chip timing.

Disposable timing chips are attached to the back of your race number and will record your time. Timing chips do not need to be returned.
