Join us for our 5th Annual Schools Road Race!
This is a Manawatu Primary/Intermediate Schools Road Race event to cater for Years 5 & 6; and Year 7 & 8 students in a schools based competitive road running race event.
Entries will be accepted via a sports coordinator or teacher from each school. Parents - get in touch with your appropriate contact person at your child's school.
This event will be run on a properly measured 3km course based in the Esplanade and Manawaroa Park with the Start/Finish at our Manawatu Striders Clubrooms (which we share with United Cricket Club), situated at Manawaroa Park next to the croquet grounds and behind the Esplanade Cafe.
Four races will take place – Year 5/6 Girls; Year 5/6 Boys; Year 7/8 Girls and Year 7/8 Boys.
The individual winner of each race will be awarded a miniature trophy to keep. An overall school winner for each of the four categories will be awarded with an annual trophy.
You are able to enter up to four runners in each category, but you will need a minimum of three to be counted in the overall points (we only use the top 3 places for your school to calculate the points for each category).
This is a free event for schools put on by the Manawatu Striders. Schools just need to turn up on the day and ensure that their own students are looked after and properly supervised.
If you are from a small rural school and numbers limit your participation, we would encourage you to join with other small schools in your cluster to make a team.
All participants will receive a participation certificate which will include a voucher to enter the 5km event at our Marathon event on Sunday May 24th.
Last year saw a total of 216 Years 5-8 students from 18 schools around the district compete. We would love to have you join us this year.
