  The Half Marathon Course

The start/finish line for all events is on Collinson Road at the entrance to the car park in front of the Massey University Recreation Centre, with both mat and gun times available to all participants in the Half Marathon events. The course is a scenic tour of Palmerston North, beginning at the Massey University campus, over the Manawatu River, through the suburb of Hokowhitu to a turnaround at the Manawatu Golf Course. The course includes the picturesque Caccia Birch Lane and the Centennial Lagoon and bridge. One lane of Centennial Drive will be closed to traffic making the event more enjoyable for competitors. 10 km competitors follow the Half Marathon course for some of the distance, leaving the Half M course at Centennial Drive to head back to the finish at Massey University.  Half Marathon competitors continue through the Esplanade and suburb of Riverdale and then around the Awapuni Racecourse returning along Slacks Road. All competitors use the upstream side of the Fitzherbert Bridge both when leaving and returning to Massey University. There are 4 drink stations on the course with the 5 km at the Chalet after competitors cross the Lagoon bridge, then at 10 & 15 km, both being at the entrance to Riverdale School on either side of Slacks Road. The last drink station, at 19.5 km, is at the entrance to Massy University. Halfway for the Half Marathon is at the intersection of Maxwells Line and Totara Road.

The 5km course is entirely within the Massey University campus, with the turnaround point located close to the Rugby Institute at the entrance to the Athletics Track. The course is mainly flat, but includes a small hill approximately 300m from the start.

The course distances are certified by Pirie Consultants Limited. Every kilometre will be marked.

Time splits will be called at 1km, 5km, 10km and 15km.
